Aashrita Kamath is a Los Angeles based Production Designer and holds an MFA in Production Design from the American Film Institute Conservatory. Her first thesis film, ‘Interstate’ won a Bronze Medal at the 41st Student Academy Awards held in June ’14. Her second thesis film, ‘Dustland’ has been nominated for ‘Best Production Design & Art Direction’ at the FilmQuest Festival ’14 in Salt Lake City, Utah. Her recent work includes ‘Contrapelo’ that had its world premiere at the 2014 Tribeca Film Festival and ‘Way in Rye’ a film she Art directed that was also nominated for the Student Academy Award in 2014.

 Prior to attending the AFI Conservatory, Aashrita worked as Prop Master on the super-hit Bollywood film, ‘Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara’ which won several prestigious awards in India, including ‘Best Film’ at the 57th FilmFare Awards. It was also one of the highest grossing Bollywood films of 2011 in India and Internationally. She also worked as Set Dresser on ‘West is West’ A BBC and Assassin film co-production, which was a sequel to the BAFTA winning British film, ‘East is East’. In addition to this, Aashrita worked on numerous commercials for well-known clients – Virgin Mobile, Fiat India and the Suzlon Group to name a few.

 She was one of 14 students that were accepted into American Film Institute’s prestigious Production Design program in 2011. In recognition of her work done at the conservatory, she was presented with the Tom Yom Scholarship Award in 2012. AFI was ranked the #1 Film school in the World by The Hollywood Reporter, and its alumni include David Lynch, Darren Aronofksy, Terrence Malick, Sharon Seymour, Wally Pfister and Matthew Libatique.
